1. About the service

PrepStep ("the app") is an educational web application operated by Ben Jackson (sole trader), designed to help children aged 9–11 prepare for the GL Assessment 11+ exam.

By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. Who can use the app

• Accounts must be created by a parent or legal guardian aged 18 or over.
• Each account is for one child. If you have multiple children, create a separate account for each.
• The parent/guardian is responsible for their child's use of the app.
• You must provide accurate information when creating your account.

3. What the app provides

The app provides:

• Multiple-choice practice questions across Maths, English, and Verbal Reasoning
• Micro-lessons explaining key concepts
• Progress tracking and performance analytics
• An AI tutor chat feature for additional support
• Mock tests simulating the real exam format

4. What the app does NOT guarantee

The app is an educational tool, not a guarantee of exam success. Specifically:

• We do not guarantee that using the app will result in passing the 11+ exam or gaining admission to any school.
• Question content is designed to reflect GL Assessment patterns but is not endorsed by or affiliated with GL Assessment.
• The AI tutor provides helpful explanations but may occasionally make errors. It should supplement, not replace, a child's learning.
• Performance scores and mastery levels are internal metrics — they do not predict exam performance.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Share your account credentials with anyone outside your household
• Attempt to access other users' data or accounts
• Use the app for any purpose other than educational preparation
• Copy, redistribute, or commercially exploit the question content, lessons, or diagrams
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract the app's data or source code
• Use automated tools or bots to interact with the app

6. Intellectual property

All question content, lesson materials, explanations, diagrams, and the app's design are the intellectual property of Ben Jackson. You may use them for personal educational purposes only.

You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any content in the app without written permission.

7. Accounts and data

• You can delete your account at any time from the account settings. This permanently removes all associated data.
• We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

8. Availability and changes

• The app is provided "as is". We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service.
• We may update, modify, or discontinue features at any time.
• We may update these terms. If we make significant changes, we will notify users via the app or email.

9. Pricing

The app is currently free during early access. If we introduce paid subscriptions in the future, existing users will be given advance notice and the option to continue or cancel.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

• The app is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
• We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.
• Our total liability for any claim related to the app is limited to the amount you have paid us (if any) in the 12 months preceding the claim.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
